Autumn 2

Week 6 and 7

We had a fabulous last two weeks of term filled with lots of Christmas activities. Our Nativity was fantastic and the children did so well. We are very proud of each of them for their efforts. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We had a very special visit from Santa. He brought the class some lovely presents including Lego and a car mat. We had such a lovely time chatting to him about where he parked his sleigh. We sang a Christmas song with him and came back and had a lovely time playing with our new toys.

We thoroughly enjoyed eating our Christmas Dinner... we had a competition about who could eat the most sprouts. We had a fabulous time at the Christmas Party... we played Pass the Parcel, ate lots of yummy food and had a disco.

We were extremely busy in the Caterpillars and had a brilliant time together.

I hope you have a lovely break with your family, and wish you all a Happy New Year.

Week 5

Christmas has well and truly arrived in Caterpillars. We have had so much fun decorating the tree, singing our nativity songs and creating lots of lovely Christmas crafts :)

As well as all of the festivities, we have had a robbery... our Christmas tree was stolen!!!!!

We came back after lunch to find our tree had gone. There was a trail of tinsel and Miss Hill's clothes were left across the classroom. The Caterpillars came up with some brilliant ideas of what happened, but sadly it was Miss Hill to blame because of it was her clothes!

We did some investigating and discovered fingerprints leading to the Christmas tree!!!!

We discussed alibis and suspects and interviewed all staff who came through the classroom. We found a video of the robber stealing the tree and discussed our own eye-witness accounts. Finally, we discovered it was Mrs English, her shoes were the same as the ones in the video!! We went to talk to her and she told us it was so beautiful she wanted to borrow it!

The Caterpillars were fantastic police officers!

In addition, we went down to St Bart's to learn more about the Christmas story. We had a lovely time meeting the characters and asking more questions about the story.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our nativity next week!

Thanks everyone

Autumn 2 Week 2

Wow! What a busy week! The children in Caterpillars have been amazing. Unfortunately, Miss Hill has been unwell and we hope she will be back next week.

This week in Maths, the children have been comparing the size of objects and using key vocabulary like big, medium and little. They were able to sort objects into the right group relative to their size and use that key vocabulary when making their choices.

In Topic, the pupils have been learning all about firefighters. We even got to draw a firefighter and label some of the clothes they wear.  Unsurprisingly, many of the class want to be firefighters when they are older.

Also, the class have finished learning their Set 1 sounds and will revisit them again from next week. It's great to see children starting to feel confident at sounding out and even blending some of our Green words.

Finally, we had our Children in Need Day - thank you so much for donating money to Children in Need, which is such a worthwhile cause. During the afternoon, we had a carousel of activities, which included : Dazzle Dance with Amy, board games, construction,

face painting and cake decoration.

Thanks for a fantastic week Caterpillars,

Mr RIst
