Reading is fun....

Posted on January 19, 2017 by dfisher.

The Elmers are having a brilliant week reading lots of stories! We are still enjoying look at books about winter but we have also started to read traditional tales such as ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’.

The children have shown so much interest in traditional stories that we have added a mini stories topic to our planning. The Elmer base has become a story zone!!!

We are enjoying retelling stories. We have a puppet theatre with  ‘Three Little Pigs’ character props. Lots of us are enjoying accessing our ‘Billy Goats Gruff’ small world area. We still have our ‘Elsa’s castle role-play’ where lots of us are playing imaginatively too.

We can build a house for the ‘Three Little Pigs’ in our Construction area and use a range of materials to build in our Investigation area.

Books are everywhere in our provision. Big books, small books, stories and non-fiction texts can be seen in lots of areas in our classroom.

We just love books and activities linked to stories! Come and take a look at classroom. Next week we have invited our parents/families to come and share stories with us. We can’t wait to read with them, role-play with puppets and have fun with a range of stories!
