On 6th February 2023, an earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria devastating communities; destroying homes and infrastructure and tearing apart families. This has been followed by a series of powerful aftershocks and over those weeks that have followed, communities have continued to search for loved ones in the rubble left by the earthquakes and a homelessness crisis has ensued due to the shortage of safe spaces left standing. In response to a parental suggestion for how the Walkley community could help, we held a non-uniform day in school. Families were able to donate money in school which has been forwarded to the British Red Cross Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal.
Remarkably, the Walkley Primary School community has raised a magnificent
£1,060.94
