Spring 1

There is  a fantastic documentary on BBC iplayer which links to our learning around islands - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000cs1p/earths-tropical-islands-series-1-3-hawaii - really worth a watch!

Y2 have rounded off their 'Land Ahoy' theme by investigating items found in some mystery suitcases, to see which islands they were off to. The children had great fun using their inference and Geography skills to work it out and after lots of investigation had a really good, educated guess at their island!

Y2 have been learning about the Great Barrier Reef and specifically the magnificent green turtle! They've drawn a turtle and painted the ocean with water colours. In the next lesson they will colour the turtle using oil pastels.

Y2 celebrated Chinese New Year in style by scaring away evil spirits with our Walkley dragon and dancing with lucky red ribbons. Thank you so much Amy from Dazzle Dance!

My star group have been working really hard on their spellings this term! Here is a fab game you can play at home to help you learn those important common exception words: https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/spookySpellings/index.html

In Gymnastics we've been learning different rolls, including the forward roll. Have a look at the children having a fantastic go at this, remembering the techniques they have learnt.

Stormwhales continue to learn the recorder! The children have progressed so well and are now confident playing some songs!
