Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have had the most wonderful afternoon at Walkley. All our pupils celebrating together for the first time in a long time. It has filled our hearts with joy. The pupil parade around the school set the tone for the party. Once at their tables, we congratulated the Queen on her 70 year reign and applauded her commitment to serve.
During our rendition of the National anthem who should appear at our school? Well, none other than her majesty herself! Seen waving from the window; what a surprise!
Then a delicious afternoon tea.
Finally with all the pupils sat on the bank, we were entertained by the cheerleaders and Y3/4 dancers with some outstanding performances.
It has been fabulous. So lovely to have everyone together, having such a fun time.

What a wonderful day we have had at Walkley, sharing in the celebration of Eid with our Muslim families. The children have been dancing, playing games and chomping on sweet treats, all the while, dressed in their party clothes and fineries!
Many thanks to Mrs Homer and Mr Clements for organising the day and to our Muslim families who guided us on activities for the day. Here are some pictures of the children celebrating and some of the pupils' comments and reflections from the day or about Eid:
"My favourite part was playing the mushroom with the parachute."
"My favourite part was dancing in the big hall."
"My favourite part of Eid is giving lots of gifts to people."
"My favourite part of the Eid Celebration Day is playing with all my friends and wearing smart clothes."
"We listened to our classmates stories about Eid."
"I got to strut my funky stuff on the dancefloor and listen to fun music (on the yard and the classroom)."
"Wearing our own clothes instead of dressing in school uniform."
"Playing a whole class game of beetle drive."
"The lunchtime picture challenge."

Dear parents/ carers,
Between the Autumn Term and Easter, the Senior leadership team in school had been operating in an interim capacity, with both myself and Mrs Leverton stepping up to the Acting positions of Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. Since my appointment as Headteacher, which began on the 19th April, myself and the Governing Body have been actively seeking to appoint a permanent Deputy Headteacher to assist me in my role of leading this wonderful school.
It was paramount in the selection process that the Deputy Headteacher would need to share our passion for Walkley Primary School and understand the core values that make our school so special.
This role attracted a high level of interest with a large number of candidates touring the school. They were impressed by the facilities, our knowledgeable, well-mannered children and the undeniable ‘Walkley feeling’ that is so evident when you visit the school. From the many applicants, candidates were then shortlisted. Those successfully shortlisted were invited for a two day interview process. Day 1 involved observed teaching and peer reviews. This was followed by a day taking part in a range of leadership tasks and a final interview to ensure we selected the very best candidate for the post.
I am delighted to announce that the successful candidate was Mrs Jenna Leverton. Having worked at Walkley for over 18 years, you will already be aware of the impact Mrs Leverton has had on the pupils, staff and families of the Walkley community. In the position of permanent Deputy Headteacher, her enthusiasm and commitment can increasingly influence opportunities for Enjoyment, Achievement and Learning for Life for all our pupils.
We know that you will share in our congratulations to Mrs Leverton.
Yours Faithfully
Chris Wallis
Headteacher
