Walkley Primary School will be holding a special day for the children in school to mark the celebration of Eid.
Children if they choose can come to school in their FINERY or smart outfits (no football kits please!) to celebrate this special time of year.
If it is your P.E Day, children should wear their school P.E kit.
We look forward to finding out more about Eid-Ul-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan.
In school, each class will watch some videos about how Eid-Ul-Fitr and Ramadan are celebrated and children in school can share their own celebrations with their peers.
Today, we hosted two assemblies for our Early Years/Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils in conjunction with NSPCC and their Speak Out Stay Safe campaign. Children learnt about different types of abuse and how to Speak Out to keep themselves Safe. We discussed the ways pupils can speak out at Walkley Primary School; these include speaking to a trusted adult directly, sharing concerns with the Pastoral Team via the thoughts and feelings boxes in their classrooms, safeguarding assemblies and every child's right to phone Childline. Childline is a free phone number where children can speak to a NSPCC trained counsellor.
These messages are in line with the Citizenship curriculum and are reinforced in Citizenship lessons and in classes throughout the year and right across school.
Everyone at Walkley would like to wish our Muslim pupils and families Eid al-Fitr.
