At Walkley Nursery, we give our youngest learners the very best start to their school journey in a vibrant, nurturing and inspiring environment. As an integral part of our Early Years phase, our Nursery children benefit from shared resources, expertise and excellent practice across Walkley Primary School.

Our experienced class teacher and dedicated support team know that every child is unique. Through purposeful play, rich experiences and carefully planned learning, we nurture children’s curiosity, confidence and independence while building strong foundations for future learning.

Being part of the Walkley Primary family means our Nursery pupils and families have direct links to the expertise, resources and opportunities across the whole school. From Early Years specialists to subject expertise across the wider curriculum, our children benefit from a wealth of knowledge and experience from the very beginning.

Children are eligible to access 15 hours of Universal Entitlement Funding from the start of the term after their third birthday. Places are allocated throughout the school year.

If you qualify for 'Free childcare for working parents scheme', we accept extended hours funding, subject to availability.  (If you are interested in applying for this additional 15 hours funding, please visit this website https://www.gov.uk/free-childcare-if-working/check-youre-eligible and check whether you are eligible for claiming.

We also offer paid for sessions (subject to availability). Any agreed additional hours over and above the 15 hours free early learning will be charged by Walkley Primary School at the standard rate for children of the child’s age in line with the Sheffield City Council Early Years Charging Policy. This is £12.50 per morning or afternoon 2 ½ hour session and £6.25 per lunch session.
