Chair of Governors

Dear Walkley Primary School Family,

I am delighted to introduce myself as the newly elected Chair of the Governing Body. It is a real privilege to take on this role and to work alongside such a dedicated and professional team of staff and governors. Having served on the governing board for the past four years, I am excited to continue supporting the growth and success of our wonderful school.

Walkley Primary has played a significant role in my family’s life as our 3 children attended between 2014-2025 and I am delighted to be able to give something small back to the school that has invested so much in my own children and prepared them so well for their ongoing education.

At Walkley Primary School, governors, staff, parents, and children work together to create a happy, inclusive, and creative learning environment. Our core values of Enjoyment, Achievement, and Learning for Life are at the heart of everything we do.

Governors are volunteers who work strategically with the school to ensure that every child receives the best possible education in a safe and supportive setting. Our role is to assist with strategic direction and oversight for school improvement, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning, hold the school to account for the standards achieved and support and encourage the Headteacher, Mr Wallis, and the Senior Leadership Team.

As a Governing Body, we are committed to four key objectives:

Setting ambitious goals aligned with the school’s vision and priorities.
Improving outcomes for all children through high-quality teaching and learning.
Monitoring the impact of the curriculum and promoting excellent educational practice.
Developing sustainable, accountable leadership at all levels across the school.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils and their achievements across the curriculum. Thank you to all parents and carers for the support you give your children, it makes a real difference. Together, with our talented staff and committed governors, I believe we are giving every child at Walkley Primary the best possible start in their educational journey.
