Children from Year 1 to Year 6 take part in Forest School on a rolling timetable throughout the school year. Each year group has an allocated Forest School week, which is shared with their cohort. Please check the timetable regularly so you know when your child will be taking part.
Forest School is an opportunity for children to explore the outdoors, learn through hands-on experiences and enjoy nature in all weathers. This means they are likely to get muddy, wet and dirty, and may feel cold, whatever the season!
There is no need to buy anything special for Forest School (whatever your child might tell you!). Old clothes that you don't mind getting muddy are ideal.
To help keep children safe, comfortable and protected from the weather and the outdoor environment, we ask that they wear:
Long-sleeved tops and long trousers in both summer and winter.
Suitable outdoor footwear that can cope with muddy and uneven ground.
Weather-appropriate clothing, including warm layers and waterproofs when needed.
Children should come to school dressed and ready for Forest School on their designated days.
Thank you for helping us ensure that all children can enjoy their Forest School experiences safely and comfortably.
Our Nursery and Reception children enjoy outdoor learning throughout the year, making regular use of our school Green Zone to explore, play and learn in the natural environment.
Children in Nursery and Reception also have opportunities to visit Forest School for short sessions at different points throughout the school year, including as part of their class-wide reward celebrations. These experiences help children develop confidence, curiosity and a love of the outdoors, while becoming familiar with the Forest School environment.
These visits also help prepare children for the longer Forest School sessions they will experience when they move into Year 1.
