This term in art we are working towards painting a mural based on local artist Nicole White. She is locally known for producing street art, from full walls to electrical boxes along the street. Our first job was to have a go at producing pictures on different surfaces to see what she experiences when she paints onto brick or concrete. The children were fantastically creative and came up with lots of fab pictures.
Our children are always working on learning goals that meet their specific needs. The weather has been lovely recently and this has been an opportunity to do some outdoor learning.
In maths, we have been tackling measuring. Our most fun lesson was working out full, nearly full, empty and nearly empty in our water tray. We also compared capacityby counting how many cups each container could take.
Last term’s Design and Technology unit was to design and make an Easter card, for a friend/family that is 3 dimensional and uses either a lever, slider or pivot mechanism or a flap. During this topic, the children have been practising cutting and sticking skills and checking whether their mechanisms slide freely. They began the topic by researching books and cards that use these mechanisms and then reproducing it themselves. If you were the recipient of the card, then I hope you liked it. If you were not, then here is what they looked like.
