Forest School

We collected leaves like Leaf in the story and then pretended to jump off the hill, just as Leaf does.

We made a shelter for Leaf to stay in after he fell into the water.

Our P.E topic this half term is Fitness, so we did some fitness in the forest school area.

We also used our compass skills to find different directions.

We had a map and had to find different areas around the school. When we got to an area we had to stamp our sheet and go to the next section.

Maths 

We used the dienes to make to number. Then, we added the tens together then the ones to find our answer. 

We added our numbers up using the dienes again. This time when we had ten ones we switched them for a ten so it was easier to add up our numbers.

Children in Need

We had a fabulous Children in Need day. We had hula hooping challenges, face painting and many more fantastic activities.

Virtual Reality Experience 

We had a fantastic time learning all about animals and their habitats using VR headsets. 

Spelling 

We had to find spellings which were hidden all around the classroom. When we found them, we wrote them down on our sheets.

Computing 

We started making our own stop motion animation videos.

Reading Buddies 

We had the Y5's visit us to do some reading. 

We enjoyed adding sound to our stop motion animation videos. We also finished them. 

Science

We started our new science topic this week. We are learning about animals and living things. This weel we talked about offspring and how some animals look like their adults and some dont. We worked in groups to do a matching and sorting activity. 

English 

We have started reading the book Leaf in English. We looked at the first 2 pages and discussed what we could see and made predictions about what might happen in the story. 

Next, we read half of the book and we found out that Leaf was not liked by the other animals on the island. In pairs, we made a freeze frame to show how Leaf might be feeling at this point of the story. We practiced and then we performed our freeze frames to the class.

We acted out how the crows were feeling throughout the story.

P.E

Our new unit this half term is called fitness. We learnt that we have to pace ourselves when running for a long time, otherwise we become too tired. 

Star Group

We have starting reading the book, Rainbow Bear. We acted out a part of the story and then we performed it to the class.

Design and Technology 

This half term, we are learning all about how cars move. Before the end of the term, we will be making our own toy car. We started by looking at toy cars to see how they worked.  

We built cars made out of Lego and discussed which we thought was better fixed axles or free moving axles.
