Autumn 2

'Great British Adventure'

Understanding the World

In forest school the children have been on the lookout for birds. They made bird feeders and with some help, placed them up high for the birds.

Literacy

The children have been developing their speaking and listening skills through lots of role play and retelling of stories. Some examples include learning and retelling ‘Whatever Next,’ a story about a bear who goes into space, retelling the Nativity story through small world resources and extending their vocabulary about woodland and nocturnal animals through provision.

Maths

In Maths, we have been using ‘stampolines’ to make different representations of 4. We found there are many different ways to make 4 and even though they all look different, the amount remains the same.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

A great effort by all on children in need day. The children gave everything a go and contributed towards a worthy cause. Well done caterpillars!

Expressive Art and Design

The children loved their pantomime. They got really involved, singing along to song songs clapping and engaging with the characters and the story. Some of their teachers even made a surprise debut on stage!

The children have loved learning about bonfire night and used their creativity to create beautiful firework pictures as well as role playing being at a bonfire and roasting marshmallows.

In art, the children took their pencil for a walk along their paper. They created some interesting abstract shapes before adding patterns such as dots and zig zags.

Physical Development

The children have started their new PE unit, gymnastics, and have done a great job learning the basic shapes and balances.
