Great British Adventure
PE
This half term the Chameleons have been learning gymnastics. Each week we are learning a new skill and we are putting those skills together to create small routines.
We started by trying different ways to travel round the space; walking, jumping, sidestepping and making our own ideas. We then tried making different shapes before holding different balances.
Then the Chameleons practiced their jumping skills, they focused on landing on both feet trying not to wobble. After having a go jumping flat they tried jumping from something higher, they made sure that the landing area was clear before they jumped. At the end they created a routine using a shape, a jump and then a balance.
Forest School
We enjoyed exploring Forest School for the first time, we climbed trees, found minibeasts and found our own learning. We made our own 'fire' and roasted 'marshmellows', going on a bird hunt, being as quite as possible to spot different birds as well as making our own hedgehogs using clay and sticks.
Computing
The Chameleons had a go at making programs using the Bee-Bots, working in pairs they gave the Bee-Bots instructions so that it could go on a journey across the map.
Class Wide Reward- Treasure Hunt
To celebrate getting 40 class wide reward points the Chameleons voted for for their reward and they chose a treasure hunt. We spotted a scroll in the classroom and when we unraveled it we worked out that it was a treasure map of our classroom. We followed each map and deciphered the clues before we were sent to the hall to look for the treasure chest. However it was still locked and the Chameleons had to use their subitising skills to find the code for the treasure.
Theatre Experience
To inspire us for our Nativity performance we were lucky enough to have a pantomine come in to perform Beauty and the Beast. We loved it so much that the Chameleons created their own panto in the classroom using props and toys, created tickets and then put on their show.
Children in Need
The Chameleons raised money for Children in Need by coming to school in our fun orange clothes. We did lots of spotty activities including printing using bubble wrap, face paints. We also completed a hula challenge as a whole class.
Art
In Art we were focusing on the artist Martin Ridley, who is a British artist who draws and paints wildlife in the United Kingdom, we discussed his pictures and said what we liked about different pictures he created.
We then started exploring our drawing, we took our pencil for a walk round the page to experiment making different lines. We then filled in the different sections using different techniques, we shaded, filled with circles, spirals, we explored which techniques looked the best and which ones we enjoyed using.
We then worked on our shading skills, we learnt that we can make the colours look darker or lighter if you press harder or use the pencil more gently. We practiced our new skills with a range of colours starting with light moving up to a darker shade by putting more or less pressure on the pencil.
We created our Christmas cards using our printing skills, we used white paint and different circle templates to print the parts of the snowman and then used our finger tip to make it snow round the side of our card.
Whoops-a-Daisy Angel
The Chameleons took part in the Early Years Nativity, we all learnt the songs and dances and then put on our Nativity in front of our grownups.
