We have been working really hard to finish our Frida Kahlo inspired portraits. We painted a moody background and then added detail to the foreground. You can find the finished portraits in the PDF attached underneath.

In reading we have been looking at the fantastic book, Leon and the Place Between. Today we looked at how the author uses lots of different devices to build suspense.
We have been working on our calendars and reinforcing our colour theory in art. We used complimentary colours to create seasonal trees.
In maths we have been learning about sharing and grouping. We used counters and worked together to explain these concepts of division practically.

We had a great time in forest school completing out nature challenges
In English, we have been continuing our Frida Kahlo biographies. We thought about appropriate sub headings and then sorted information into categories to make sure that our ideas were organised and clear.
In the Forest school we recreated some of Frida's backgrounds using natural materials. We then also imitated the artist's portraits by capturing natural backgrounds and exaggerated eyebrows!
Life imitates art!
In citizenship, we created a tangled web to show that we all have something in common with each other.

What a brilliant week we had last week! We have been learning all things Frida, starting with learning the song, 'In a World of Colour'. We read the song lyrics to help us learn the words fluently and then we used the green screen to record our performances. I'm sure you'll agree that ours is just as professional as the original!

We started our new term with our reading buddies Storytime. The Y6 came to the Borrowers classroom to listen to the Y3s read and give support. This is a great way to build our reading community across school and we can’t wait for the next session!
In English, we have started learning the poem, The Spider and the Fly. We worked in groups to read and perform the poem with fluency.
