Spring 2

This week we finished building our frame structures!

In our final gymnastics lesson we practised our skills of balance and movement on different apparatus

In DT our focus has been on structures. Our task was to design and build a frame structure for a mini greenhouse using paper straws! We learned different techniques to join the straws together.

Lowry style paintings. First we sketched our designs, then painted the scene using acrylic paint.

Our final forest school session was a code breaking task! The secret code hidden around the forest needed to be used to crack the cypher and decode Mary Queen of Scots letter! The Hiccups made great detectives and discovered Mary’s plan to escape imprisonment!

We have started our new PE unit of gymnastics! The first lesson involved learning shapes and practising engaging our core muscles to hold balances.

For our second forest school session we had a maths scavenger hunt! The Hiccups used their multiplication skills to complete the challenges.

In art this week, the Hiccups have been practising mixing acrylic paint to create new colours and shades. We only used red, yellow, blue, black and white paint to keep in the style of LS Lowry.

For our first forest school session of Spring 2 the Hiccups and the Sun Kings went outside to do come sketching! We drew sketches of the landscape, focusing on size and perspective, in preparation for our final pieces of artwork this term based on LS Lowry.
