Summer 1

Maths

To finish our money unit, we applied our adding and subtracting pounds and pence knowledge to create a marble maze. Each group had £15 to spend and each lego brick cost a certain amount. This was a very fun practical lesson applying skills we’ve learnt over the last few weeks!

History

As we’ve been learning about the Vikings in our History lessons, we’ve realised there are a lot of similarities between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons. In this week’s History lesson we sorted information about the two groups of settlers into a venn diagram. They had a lot more similarities than differences. So why were they always fighting?

Tennis Taster Session

This week in school we had a tennis taster session. The children practiced balancing and hitting a ball using a racket. If you are interested in taking up tennis lessons you can head the Multi-Activity Hub opening at Hillsborough Park this summer!

Advanced Cheerleaders

A huge well done to our advanced cheerleaders as they performed their final routine to all KS2 children and parents this week. Thank you Amy, for all your hard work and brilliant routines taught to our wonderful cheerleaders!

Science

Continuing with our Science topic, Mr Mallon demonstrated how our digestive system works using a variety of materials.

Chaya’s were really engaged and asked interesting scientific questions.

Can you remember which part of the digestive system Mr Mallon is showing?

Is it the small intestine? The mouth? The oesophagus?

Art

This half term, we’ve been studying the artist Sokari Douglas Camp. She uses metal and recyclable materials to create figures. We’ve been using clay, foil and mod roc to recreate some maquettes inspired by her work.

Viking Artwork

We worked collectively to create a whole class piece of artwork on the vikings!

Science

This half term Year 4 have been learning all about the digestive system. In our lesson this week we worked in groups to label parts of our digestive system.
