Summer 1 - The Groovy Greeks

Week 6

Well done to our Golden Book winners of the week. You are all super stars and we are extremely proud of you!

This week we have finished off our amazing Delita Martin inspired prints. We had an extremely busy afternoon combining all of the skills that we have learned in printing this term. We first mono-printed our Greek God or Goddess. We then designed both a print block and a print relief which we used as an overlay. Our artworks are incredible and look so professional! Please take a look!

Take a look at our amazing works of art!

In English, we have started a new book, Gaia Goddess of the Earth. We have been working on collaboration and started by drawing what Gaia’s creation looked like and then used our debating skills to discuss the motives of the different Greek Gods.

In maths this week, we have been learning about money. We have made amounts in different ways and coverted pounds and pence.

A huge well done to our advanced cheerleaders as they performed their final routine to all KS2 children and parents this week. Thank you Amy, for all your hard work and brilliant routines taught to our wonderful cheerleaders!

We put all of our tennis learning together and played doubles today. Great teamwork Borrowers!

Week 5

We have been working on strategies to stretch our focus. Today we did a ‘stretch and sketch’ using continuous lines to help us think about problem solving and resilience.

In guided reading we have been continuing to read the Greek myths. This week we looked at a graphic novel style of book. We summarised the 12 tasks of Heracles in our own comics

In maths today, we took our fractions outside for a picnic. We were feeling so greedy that we went for second helpings and had to add our fractions together!

In PE we have been continuing our fielding skills in cricket. We tried over arm throwing and catching. We then attempted to catch our partners out.

It’s the day we have all been waiting for! Greek Day! The Borrowers have created some lovely scratch vases, took part in a quiz in the woodland area, decided whether they would prefer to live in Athens or Sparta and took part in a drama activity about the Trojan War. Well done Borrowers!

How to mono-print, No sound, visual only.

Updated video can be found here -https://youtu.be/k5lcn69M0V8 How to mono print! You will need- a plastic or glass tile, block printing ink, roller, paper and masking tape. Only use a dab of ink at first, you can always add more. Roll out ink. You want a nice even layer of ink.
