Autumn 1 Week 8
This week, we looked for autumn changes outside. We noticed that it was getting colder & we needed to bring our coats to nursery. We looked at the trees & noticed that the leaves had started to change colour & that some of their leaves had already started to drop. We collected some leaves to add to our autumn investigation table. We used magnifiers to look carefully at autumn objects.
Autumn 1 Week 7
This week, we have been looking carefully at our features in a mirror. We have talked about the colour of our eyes & hair & counted how many eyes, nose, ears & mouths we have. We then used our mark making skills to draw a picture of our faces, using the correct colours.
Autumn 1 Week 6
This week we have made the most of the sunny weather & played outside as much as possible. We have cooked lots of 'meals' in our mud kitchen, practised our ball skills & we have also planted some spring bulbs.
Autumn 1, Week 5
This week has been a little quieter in Elmer class due to illness, so we have made up for it by spending lots of time exploring sounds. We have copied rhythms, created quiet & loud sounds, sung lots of songs/rhymes & made our own Elmer band. We have also danced, dressed as jungle animals & played lots of turn taking games.
Autumn 1, Week 4
This week, we have been sharing the stories; Elmer's Special Day & Elmer & the Tune. We decorated our own elephants for the Elmer Day Parade and used our listening skills to create our own 'catchy' tune just like Rose's in the story.
This week, we have been sharing lots of Elmer stories & exploring colour. We've been getting creative, making our own patchwork people & improving our cutting skills.
In order to help new classmates settle in, we have played lots of turn taking games & circle time.
Welcome back!
Welcome to the autumn term in Elmer class. This half term we will be using our class book 'Elmer'as a starting point for learning. We will be focusing on building relationships, routines & getting to know more about each other.
