Autumn 2

Autumn 2 Week 7

Christmas Party!

It was lovely to see so many of the Elmer class come together for our Christmas party. We enjoyed some some outdoor games, including a festive version of the Traffic Light game, showed off our best dance moves during the disco & tucked into some delicious treats from home.

Autumn 2 Week 6

This week, we have written letters to Father Christmas, wore Santa hats to deliver cards & 'presents' in the 'sleigh', made snowflakes, took part in the Santa Dash treasure hunt & had a special visit from Father Christmas to deliver the class some well deserved presents.

Autumn 2 Week 5

This week, we have been finding out a little about the Jewish festival of Hannukah & made our own six sided stars. We have started our countdown to Christmas with our class advent calendar & decorated the tree class tree. We have also been practising singing some festive songs.

Autumn 2 Week 4

We have had a lovely time in the forest, collecting fallen leaves, making it 'rain' leaves, finding hidden tree roots, hunting for 'lost' bears, crunching autumn leaves, collecting different sized sticks & sharing stories. In nursery we have been making our own leaf pictures, printing with them to explore autumn colours & weaving with  sticks & coloured wool.

Autumn 2 Week 3

Children in Need

Elmer class coloured in Pudsey bear pictures, put button spots on Pudsey's bandana, joined in with a bear dance, sponged a teacher, took part in a penalty shoot out, had a story with a Y6 school council rep, threw 'spots' into a bucket & watched a video clip about C in N. We had a great day of fundraising.

Autumn 2 Week 2

This week, we have been exploring poppies in connection with Remembrance Day. We have talked about the colour of poppies & their parts e.g. petal, stem. We painted our own poppies, used loose parts to create temporary poppies & looked closely at poppy seed heads. We also scattered some seeds to see if we can grow our own poppies too.

Autumn 2 week 1

This week, we have been finding out about the festival of light, Diwali. We know that food is shared, houses are decorated with rangoli patterns, candles are lit & fireworks are set off in celebration. This also linked to the celebration of bonfire night. We made our own firework paintings, diya lamps, decorated rangoli patterns & danced like fireworks. We also watched a puppet show about the Rama & Sita story.
