Autumn 2

Week 1

In music lessons, the foxes have been appraising, learning and performing the song "Mama Mia" both vocally and with the glockenspiels. This week we improvised and composed our own instrumentals during the song.

In design and technology, we have been studying pneumatic devices such as lifts, football pumps and some fairground rides. We then built a simple pneumatic system to push a ball or a glue stick and thought about how tubing and the size of a syringe affects the power of the device. Finally, we talked about how we might design a Grinch mask which can move using a pneumatic system.

Week 2

The Foxes earned another class-wide reward party and voted for a "Cookie Baking Party". Here they are in the creative room making some delicious concoctions!

In computing, the foxes have been studying digital art. We have looked at the great David Hockney and have been inspired by his recent digital creations. We then used the app, doodle buddy, to make our own art. We really enjoyed using the smudge tool to create shadows and reflections.

Week 3

The foxes did an excellent job of researching and making posters on what happened to Pompeii in 79AD. The children explained about how important the site is to historians and archaeologist and what has been discovered there.

Every week, our swimming coaches have nominated one person as the, "swimmer of the week!" Bravo to these children who have already been picked. In the future, we will post a picture of the medalist weekly.

Week 4

Preparations for our show, "The Grinch" are going well plus we are studying the script in guided reading to understand the lay out of a script and to justify our opinions on why the Grinch dislikes Christmas so much. Here is the audio book of Dr Seuss's timeless read.

Count by 9s Song

The foxes are doing a great job of practising their time tables in CLIC lessons and TT rockstar sessions. This week, we have focused on multiplying and dividing by 9. This song has helped us a lot!

Boudicca & the Roman Invasion | The Story of Britain | BBC Teach

In history, we have been looking at why the romans wanted to invade Britain. We looked at a variety of sources and correctly identified some as inaccurate and some as reliable. We also looked how Celtic tribes lived and made storyboards of Boudicca's brave but unsuccessful uprising which resulted in the Romans ruling most of this island for nearly 350 years.

Many thanks to Mrs Delap who took a picture of the famous Boudicca statue in London. If you look closely, you can see her two daughters riding the chariot with her.

The Foxes did a great job making collages using photos on apple's app Keynote. They used good image manipulation skills , added animation and edited the photos.

Hot news! Back by popular demand...Walkley's Got Talent!

Are you a dancer? A singer? Do you have skills? Can you make a rabbit disappear? Are your jokes epic? If the answer to any of these questions is "Yes!", then you're just the kind of person we will need on Friday 16th December 2022, when you will have the chance to show off your talents to the rest of Key Stage 2. You can be a solo act or a group. You can mix it up with friends from other classes. All you need to do to take part is to give your class teacher some vital information by Friday 9th December;

Your own name, and those of other people in your act (and which class they're in), your act's name, what you will be doing and how long you think your performance will last. If you need music, please give us accurate information about the artist and the song/tune. There will be mats on the floor, but if you need anything else (e.g. a table or a chair), please also tell your teacher. You can only take part in one act.

If your act impresses the panel of (not very) scary judges, you might even win a prize!

We're looking forward to seeing what you've got!

Week 6

LKS2 The Grinch Trailer

Here is a sneak peak of the Grinch which is on for one day only for two showings (9.30-10.30 and 2-3pm). The google form for booking tickets is now closed as we have reached seating capacity. We look forward to seeing you there on the 8th of December!

Many thanks to Mr Wilcock and St Barts church for allowing us to visit and be retold the Christmas story. The children loved the interactive performance and the after show juice and biscuits!

The Foxes made Grinch posters on the Key Note app and learnt how to upload them onto this website!

Week 7

The Foxes enjoyed exploring forest school today and used the ipads to take eye catching photos. Back in the classroom, we used filters and editing tools to enhance images.

The Foxes out-did themselves today by following our agreed design brief and group designs to build a remote controlled Grinch puppet. Each group built and used a pneumatic device to successfully move their puppet mouth up and down. Great team work, problem solving and creativity were on display!
