Autumn 2 Hola Mexico

- Week 1 -

In Art, Y3 enjoyed exhibiting our final cave art the 'Great Cave'.

- Week 2 -

In English, we have been exploring 'The Sound Collector' by Roger McGough. We learnt the poem and performed it with actions. After being set a secret rhyming word mission, we created lists of words that rhymed linked to the stone age in order to innovate the poem to create our own poems.

We enjoyed turning our finished pieces of writing into animated performances.

- Week 3 -

A sneak peek at our upcoming winter performance...

In English, we have been enjoying reading the story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf. We have looked at what makes an effective diary entry and put ourselves in the matador's shoes, using drama to help us infer thoughts and feelings at different points in the story. The children were then tasked with writing their own diary entry from an upsetting day in the matador's life when, after years of training, he takes on 'Ferdinand the Fierce' in the corrida. It's safe to say it wasn't quite the performance he was hoping for!

In Art, we have been studying the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. We have learnt about her life and her impressive painting. Frida features in many children's books including 'Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World' which is now also performed as a musical. We enjoyed singing along to 'A World of Colour' from the show.

Raising money for Children In Need....

In PE with Mr Rist, we have been developing our gymnastics skills.
