Week 3
In English, we have been continuing our Frida Kahlo biographies. We thought about appropriate sub headings and then sorted information into categories to make sure that our ideas were organised and clear.
In the Forest school we recreated some of Frida's backgrounds using natural materials. We then also imitated the artist's portraits by capturing natural backgrounds and exaggerated eyebrows!
Life imitates art!

What a brilliant week we had last week! We have been learning all things Frida, starting with learning the song, 'In a World of Colour'. We read the song lyrics to help us learn the words fluently and then we used the green screen to record our performances. I'm sure you'll agree that ours is just as professional as the original!

In English, we have just started a biography of Frida Kahlo. We read the book, Little People Big Dreams: Frida Kahlo and used it to create a timeline of her major life events. Tomorrow we will be looking at the book, A Portrait of an Artist: Frida Kahlo by Lucy Brownridge to analyse how Frida used colour and symbolism to express her emotions.

In art, we got out the powder paints and learned about colour theory. We refreshed our knowledge of primary and secondary colours and then learned about complementary colours. We then did some colour mixing, using hues, tones and tints.
This week we have continued our learning about Frida Kahlo in reading by leaning the lyrics to the brilliant song from the 'Fantastically Great Women' musical. The children have loved learning it and are excited to perform in front of a green screen next week...
