Walkley Pupils Visit Walkley Care Homes To Spread Christmas Cheer
Earlier today, a group of 12 Year 6 children represented Walkley Primary School on a community care home walk. They visited two local care homes - Northfield and Leahyrst, delivering home made Christmas cards made by all the year 6s. The cards were individually written for each resident and carer and contained a heart felt message to spread some festive cheer. The children also sang some festive songs to the residents who listened at their windows. The smiles on the residents faces definitely showed that we achieved our goal of spreading some joy at a very tough time. The residents of both care homes both sent back their own lovely messages to the school. The Daily Mirror were also there to take photographs and report on the community event - watch out for the report in the newspaper in the coming days. Well done to the fabulous group of Year 6 children who represented our school with maturity and sense of pride.
