Spring 1

In history we enjoyed learning about food in the past. We tried lots of things including cheese and pineapple sticks, trifle and spam! How is it different to today's food? What did you like the most?

Happy Chinese New Year! Anansi loved celebrating the new year of the rabbit with a special dacne session!

Anansi class loved another art afternoon in the creative zone! They were busy exploring printing through rolling this week. We used vehicles to paint their wheels and roll them, then stamps, rolling pins and other equipment that could roll. Can you remember what you used? What sort of pattern did it make?

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you have had a lovely break. We have had a fun start to the new year in Anansi class including beginning our gymnastics in PE, number work to understand numbers to 20 in maths, reading our class story 'Pattan's Pumpkins' in literacy, sorting animals in Science, looking at Walkley history.

In RSHE we thought about what makes a happy school and why we love our school. The children had lots of ideas to share abou their love of Walkley! This included-

"having fun with friends!"

"Read, Write, Inc-learning to read"

"Playing together"

"being kind"

"Playing outside"

"Going on fun trips"

"working with friends"

"The teachers and people"

It was lovely to hear everyone's news about what they had been up to visiting family and friends in the holidays, looking forward to an exciting year together.
