Spring 2

The Aslans have just finished their Exploring the Rainforest topic in Geography. They looked at the different layers in the rainforest and which animals lived in each area. They have also looked at the lifestyles of rainforest tribes and the effects of deforestation, both locally and globally.

The Aslans have kicked off their Mass and Capacity unit with a practical lesson using balance scales to weigh objects in the classroom.

The Aslans had an incredible trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They found out more about the animals that live in different layers of the rainforest, smelled some spices that come from the rainforest and saw what a tapir's skull looks like. They even had the opportunity to hold a Giant African Land Snail! During our free time, we were able to see lots of animals living at the park, including meerkats, lions, a tiger, baboons, lemurs and wallabies.

For Red Nose Day, the Aslans enjoyed dressing up in red or clothes that made them happy. Following face painting at lunchtime, the Aslans designed their own red nose and then had the opportunity to share a joke with the class.

The Aslans enjoyed their well-deserved "construction & craft" afternoon.

In Citizenship, we have been discussing the start of Ramadan and have read "Ramadan Moon". We discussed similarities and differences between Ramadan and Lent. We then completed a "Tangled Web" activity, thinking about what we have in common with different people within the class.
