The children were glad to be back after a well rested break and I was just as happy to see them! We got stuck in straight away and took a trip to Forest School. The children took down their sketch pads and pencils and showed off their creative flair.
The children drew some fantastic drawings in the style of LS Lowry the artist we will be studying this term.
Well done Sun Kings! the learning zone comes naturally to you all.
Sunkings have immersed themselves in classical poetry; in particular, Robert Frosts infamous poems ‘The road not taken’ and ‘Stopping by woods on a snowy evening.’ We have been discussing our views on the poems through class discussions to help us articulate and justify our opinions.
This week at forest school has been so much fun! For our second task the children became historians and were looking around the forest to see what letters they could find to help them decode our message.
Y5’s had the fantastic opportunity to visit Manor Lodge as part of our learning for History. We had the best day and it was amazing to see all of our hard work from our History lessons and the knowledge we have built on come to life!
In English we have continued with our poetry. The themes of commitment and promises were prevalent in both poems and children made some great reflections on the commitments they have in and outside of school.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2025!!
Wow! Well done Sunkings you all looked amazing in your costumes! You really bought your books to life! Our day was filled with books, books and more books! We went down to Y2 to read to our favourite classic books to them and we even visited a book cafe in the afternoon in our very own classroom.

In our new PE unit we are doing Dodgeball. Our first lesson started off practising different throws and techniques we can use when we work our way up to playing a whole class game of dodgeball! We had so much fun!
In History our lesson focused on the Industrial Revolution. We came up with our version of Sunkings have got talent and each group had to persuade the judges why their invention was the most useful. The children created some persuasive posters and their pitches made it really hard to choose just one winner!
