We began the half term with a week in forest school! We carried out investigations related to our forces topic in science. First we created parachutes to measure the effects of air resistance. Our second investigation involved making different shaped boats out of tin foil to test water resistance.
In PE we began practising some of the different skills for volleyball. We began by throwing and catching, then using different types of volley to pass the ball in our groups.
Week 2
On Tuesday this week we had a trip to Kelham Island Museum. We had lots of fun exploring the museum, looking at the old machinery and learning about the history of Sheffield.
Our Gear, Lever and Pulley Workshop at Kelham Island Museum!
This week, Acting Together, a group of students from the University of Sheffield, came in to do a drama workshop with Year 5! We had lots of fun watching the performance and taking part.
This week we developed our volleyball skills by attempting to volley the ball over the net.
Week 3
Our second PE unit this half term is Gymnastics. This week we practised some different gymnastics moves on and off apparatus, such as forwards rolls, backwards rolls and cartwheels.
In DT this week we made designs for our cam toys and glued paper templates to recycled card ready to construct next week.
