Spring 2

What a great start to the term! Well done Chayas!

In writing we have been looking at kenning poems. Pupils wrote their own inspired by our amazing Mr Butler!

Writing

Here is another one a pupil wrote during calm time...

History

In history we have started studying the Anglo Saxons. We thought about primary and secondary sources and sorted different images into the correct headings.

Science

In science we have been studying electrical circuits!

World Book Day

We had a great World Book Day! We designed a book cover and studied our Y4 focus author Polly Hoyen! Ms Murgatroyd was very impressed with the effort everyone made and the enthusiasm they had about their favourite book!

Castleton

Chayas had an amazing time in Castleton! We did lots of fun activities including gem panning, candle making and we even made our own rockets to transport an egg! On the second day we hiked up to Treak Cliff Cavern and the views from the top were incredible! Chayas did a great job of representing Walkley and all the adults who attended the trip were impressed with their enthusiasm and resilience.

Author Bethan Woollvin Visit

We were very lucky to have a visit from Bethan Woollvin, author of Little Red. The children enjoyed listening to an extract and had a go at drawing their own illustration.

History

Today in history we looked at Ango Saxon settlements and then designed our own! We had to include houses, a hall, farmland and much more. Chayas did a fantastic job!

In art we are studying the sculptor Sokari Douglas Camp. We have looked at examples of their work and today we created maquettes in preparation for our final sculpture. We learnt how to join and manipulate clay.
