Following the children’s interests
A large part of our curriculum in Early Years is created by the children as they talk to us about their likes and interests. This week, one of our little boys brought in a treasure map. We talked about what was on the treasure map, and decided to go on our own treasure hunt. We took our treasure to the top yard the children loved running, searching and finding the loot.
While we were outside we had a great time running, rolling and climbing. Great for strengthening our core muscles, spatial awareness and just enjoying time out in the fresh air.
And on this farm…
This term we are learning about Farms. We have been expanding our repertoire of songs learning lots of well known songs about farm animals and enjoyed singing Old Mc Donald and thinking about the different sounds the animals make.
The children have had two special treats this week. We had a visit from Ian’s mobile Farm where they got to see, touch and groom some of the animals we have being sinning about. The Elmers were super on their visit. Asking lots of questions, listening to instructions and being very gentle with all the animals.
And a special treat to end the week, Miss Burton brought in her Chinese dragon. The children loved trying on the head and dancing together to the music.
they even did some streamer dancing pretending they were making the fire from the dragons breath.
Can you guess who’s behind the dragons head!
Happy World Book Day
The children have had an amazing day dressing up as their favourite book characters. We’ve had Princess Pearl and Zog, A real life Scientist, Alfie and lots more.
the children were brilliant at exposing who they were and why the book they had chosen was their favourite.
