Spring 2

Burnaby Cub

We drew designs on a leaf and stuck them on a cub. Our designs we all things that we loved about Yorkshire.

Bethan Woolvin

We had a famous author come into school. Bethan read one of her books, she talked about how she writes her books and we drew one of the characters from her story.

Forest School

We made bridges out of natural materials. Then we tested them to see how strong they were. We played fun games with the parachute, everyone got the chance to run under the parachute. Also, we did an orienteering activity. There were different station around the forest school area and we had to find them using a map. We finished off our action packed week with a game of kick rounders.

Cards

We had a fun time making our Eid and Easter cards.

Class Wide Reward Celebration - Teddy Bear Picnic

We had a lovely time eating our snack with our teddies and talking to our friends. We danced with our teddies to music and then we played some fun games.

Citizenship

We talked about what consent means. Then, we play the consent game. We had to ask someone if we could pat, hug or high five them.

World Book Day

What a fabulous day World Book Day was. Everyone looked amazing in their costumes. For one of our activities, we had a draw along with Bethan Woolvin and we drew one of the trolls from the book ' The Three Little Vikings'.

R.E

We learnt about Holy week. We went outside and saw what happened in Holy week.

We looked at how churches celebrate Easter. To celebrate Easter in class we: ate a mini egg, ate a hot cross bun, decorated a cross and made a Easter card.

We watched the Easter story and drew what sadness and happiest felt like.

We went to St Barts to listened to the Easter Story. We made masks, discussed question and had  a biscuit and juice.

English

We are reading a new book called 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. We read the story and then acted out certain crayons. The class had to guess which crayons the group was acting out.

We started a new unit. The book we read was called 'Malala's Magic Pencil'. We acted out a part of the story. We also used our oracy skills to discuss the book using our nesting and sticky hands approach.

We analysed the book and found features of the letters written by the crayons.

Computing

We learnt about robots and algorithms. We pretended to be robots and our partner directed us around the classrooms, using forwards, backwards, left and right.

We programmed a beebot and our partners had to guess where it would end up. Then, we practised programming a robot called A.L.E.X on the iPad.

We made our own maps this week. Then, we put obstacle in the way of the beebots. We programmed the beebots around the obstacles so they got to their destination.

Hydration

We learnt all about how drinking water helps your body. We learnt many facts and now we all know how important it is to drink water throughout the day.

P.E - Invasion Games

LO: To understanding that scoring is an attacking skill and to explore ways to do this.

We practised throwing balls at a target. After, we got into teams and tried to score goals against a defender using the target skill we had learnt.

LO: To mark a opponent and understanding that this is a defending skill.

We stood in front of the attacker and tried to stop them touching a cone which was on the floor. We knew that we are a defender when we are marking an opponent.
