Spring 2

Dentist Visit

We were visited by a dentist who taught us the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. We learnt that snails are the animal that have the most teeth and lots of other fun teeth facts. We then got to practice our brushing on giant teeth and on a crocodile.

Hydration

The Chameleons spoke about the importance of drinking water althroughout the day, especially when it is warm or you have done excecise.

Forest School

During Forest School week the Chameleons started by practicing their map reading skills to find treasures hidden round the school. Working with partners they studied the maps and found landmarks to work out where the x's on the maps were located.

The Chameleons were inspired by the fossils we found so we made our own fossils using clay. We pressed dinosaur skeletons and shells into clay to create our very own fossil.

PE-Ball Skills

We started our unit on ball skills by practicing our rolling and techniques, we became the wind and focused on how to move around the space controlling the ball, being gentle and pushing it harder.

We then tested out our throwing skills, we pretended it was a snowy day and we found a load of snowballs to use. We tested our power, accuracy and control.

Next we looked at our bouncing, catching and dribbling. Using basket balls we looked out for the magic moment to catch, and then push back down to keep the ball bouncing. Once we were got good we tried walking around while dribbling the ball.

Farm Visit

A farm came to Walkley and the Chameleons got to go up and visit the animals. We learnt lots of facts about a range of farm animals including what their young are called and what they like to eat. We enjoyed touching, stroking and playing with the animals.

Disco

The Chameleons had lots of fun at the EYFS and Y1 disco.

World Book Day

The Chameleons loved celebrating Wolrd Book Day! Everyone dressed up as their favourite book characters. We learnt about our new class author Nadia Shireen and read some of her stories before drawing ourselves and an animal sidekick in her style. We had a quite reading time with the books that we brought in from home and then debated and voted to pick the Chameleon's favourite book.

Class Wide Reward- Rock Painting

When the Chameleons got to 40 Class Wide Reward Points we brainstormed and voted for a new Class Wide Reward. The Chameleons decided to do Rock Painting, we planned our rocks and then we did 2 painting sessions before taking home our rocks.
