Spring 2 Equality for All

- Week 1 -

Graffiti: Art or Vandalism?

This half term, we will be exploring the world of street art. We will be learning about the life and work of Brooklyn artist Jean-Michel Basquiat alongside other famous street artists. To complement our project, we will also take part in a formal debate to communicate different opinions about art.

In Science, we learnt about the important role our lungs play and how they function. We created our own models to demonstrate how the diaphragm contracting draws air into the lungs through our airways.

- Week 2 -

World Book Day 2025

We created our own interactive stories to read to our Y1 reading buddies.

- Week 3 -

In Art this week, we enjoyed exploring street art from across the world. We 'travelled' all the way to Melbourne, Australia to explore the colourful walls of Hosier Lane before returning back to Sheffield and exploring the work of famous artists closer to home.

A group of 6 children from Year 5 and 6 represented Walkley in the Sheffield bouldering finals today at the mini works. They worked very hard on some tricky climbs but showed fabulous resilience and team spirit supporting each other. We came third as a team overall and we also had the second placed male climber in our team! Well done Walkley!

We finished the week with an exciting trip to the Crucible Theatre to see the stage adaptation of 'Pig Heart Boy'.
