In RE we are currently studying Islam, with a focus on how the mosque provides a sense of belonging. We were very lucky to have a member of the local Muslim community visit and share her knowledge and experiences. The children had generated questions during their previous RE lesson and this visit enabled them to explore the religion in greater depth.
To mark the King's coronation, the Gruffalos designed their own postage stamps. This artwork has been placed in a time capsule, to be opened by a future generation of Walkley pupils.

Karate Cats EnglishWith Special Agent Training beginning this month, we are eager for the children to practise some of the year 2 skills they have learned this year. The children love this game from the BBC and it is a fun way to practise SPaG skills.
Year 2 took their Computing lesson up to Forest School! After a hilarious attempt to produce an algorithm to make a marmalade sandwich, the Gruffalos and the Giants produced their own algorithms to navigate around Forest School. They were introduced to clockwise and anticlockwise quarter turns, and had to use these terms to guide others around their route. When spotting mistakes, they had to debug their algorithm.
