- Week 1 -
"Will you walk into my parlour?" said the spider to the fly;
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy."
In English, we have been exploring the poem 'The Spider and the Fly' by Mary Howitt - a cautionary tale against those who use flattery and charm to disguise their true intentions. We will be rewriting the poem in narrative form, using dialogue to advance the action and convey the two contrasting characters.
Y5/6 Cheerleading – Octagon Dance Performance
Wow! What a performance. A huge well done to all our Y5 & 6s who took part in the dance show. Not only did you look like professionals but you were all so enthusiastic, happy and smiley while performing. You made Walkley proud! Thank you parents for joining us – I hope you are feeling just as proud!
Today, Kensukes visited King Edwards secondary school to take part in a science lesson. I was so impressed with the knowledge they showed to the secondary school teachers from the unit on light and vision that we completed in the Autumn term. We used light boxes to investigate refraction and reflection. We then got to dissect an eye ball and examine each part. Well done Kensukes - you were a credit to the school as always!
-Week 2-
We have been writing a letter of warning as part of our work focusing on The Spider and the Fly. The children have been working hard to include ambitious vocabulary and to write in a formal tone. I am looking forward to reading your final drafts! Well done once again for your fabulous work ethic Kensukes!
