In science this week we built some lever mechanisms! We used newton meters to measure how the length of the lever affected the force needed to lift a weight.
Week 2
In English we did a traverse to discuss our key question: Should Jim escape the workhouse?
In science we built pulley systems to explore how pulleys reduce the force needed to move an object
Forest School
For our first forest school session we dissected flowers and identified the reproductive structures.
Next we had a go at a style of Japanese art called Tataki Zome (flower bashing!)
In this forest school session we tried making bubbles! We collected sticks and tied string in a square to create the frame.
Week 3
In PE this week, as part of our athletics unit, we did relay running! We practised effective ways to pass the baton and maintain speed
In Art this week we did printing! First we collected leaves from outside to try natural printing. We then made polystyrene printing blocks inspired by nature.
Week 4
In PE this week we moved onto the field events section of Athletics and practised our shot put throw!
Week 5
In Spanish this week we played a game similar to snakes and ladders. If we landed on a planet we had to describe it in Spanish. If we landed on a black hole we had to go back to the start!
In Science we are learning about space. Today we researched the planets in our solar system using books and the NASA website.
In Art this week we drew our designs on Lino then cut them out! We needed to be very careful with the Lino cutters to add intricate detail.
Week 6
In PE this week we developed skills in 2 more athletics events - Triple Jump and Javelin
In Art we used our Lino printing blocks to create our final pieces!
