I hope you all had a restful holiday! This week,in our maths lessons, we have been learning about direction. The children had practical tasks on the playground, where they were asked to pretend to be a robot and a programmer. They had to follow instructions like make a quarter, half or full turn.
Week 6
This week, we have been lucky enough to have ‘ Amazelab’ from Sheffield University come in to teach the children about the wonders of slime. The children made the slime and had a competition to see who could make the longest slime. The winner for KS2 stretched the entire width of the class.
In our history, we have been discussing the formation of England under Athelstan. He should be more well known , as he was the first ruler to be recognised as Bretwalda ‘ Super King ‘ by the whole of this island of ours. To become Bretwalda , he had to negotiate an agreement with other Kings at Eamont Bridge in 927 AD. The children were able to act out the negotiations on the stage in Tennyson.

Apologies for the videos being upside down. Unfortunately, we are having a settings issue with the laptop, rather than it being a result of my own idiocy.

Week 2
This week in PE, we have been honing our rounders skills. Last week, we focused on throwing for fielding (over arm) and sprinting. This week, we have practiced bowling (under arm) and batting (using a tennis racket). The sun shone, and everyone was able to enjoy each of the skills!
In science, we made switches that could make or break circuits, using conductive materials (split pins and paper clips), mounted on an insulating material (cardboard). The switches we made were used as components in a circuit to turn a light bulb on and off.
