Summer 2

Time to fly...

Week 6

This week, we have loved Sports Day and Transition Day. The Caterpillars have embraced these two unknowns with such an open mind, ready for the challenges ahead.

In the classroom, we have been busy talking about when we were little and how we have changed and grown. We have been talking about what we can do now that we couldn't do when we were small. We have been looking at pictures of when we were small and seeing if we could figure out who they were now! We have had a jigsaw of the staff going to be in Year 1 and seeing if we could put their faces back together.

We  can't believe Reception is nearly over! It has flown.

Well done Caterpillars.

You really are amazing!

Week 5

We have had a great week in the forest. We have loved exploring ways to make 5 using natural objects like sticks and leaves. We recreated 5 little speckled frogs and enjoyed jumping off the log into the pool. We had a good look around and spotted things that had changed from our visit in Spring and saw some signs of summer. We could see the fruit beginning to grow ready to be harvested in Autumn. The Caterpillars enjoyed becoming true artists as we found our favourite spot, sat down and sketched the view we could see. All whilst identifying different types of trees. What a brilliant week in the forest!

Week 4

We had made our fruit salad this week. Using all of our skills and knowledge from the last few weeks. After tasting the fruit, designing our fruit salad, writing shopping lists and practising chopping... the time came to make it! We worked hard to hold the fruit still with one hand and carefully use our knife with the other. We loved mixing our fruit salad and eating it. Well done Caterpillars.

Week 3

We loved our visit this week from the History Van. We were leaning about 'Polly Put the Kettle on' and how life was before electricity. We talked about the house work and the jobs people did around the house. We had a go at ironing, sweeping and washing clothes by hand. We made metal spoons, became scientists to look at the movement of water for power and made our own Victorian toys. We had a go at writing with a fountain pen and ink. We had to sign some very serious contracts with the pen about becoming an apprentice. A big thank you to Kathryn from The History Van for a very informative and fun day.

Thank you for a great week Caterpillars

Week 2

We have been busy learning more about healthy foods this week. We went to the Creative Zone to practise our chopping skills ready for when we make our fruit salad.

We have been talking about special places. We have been drawing our homes and talking about how special they are.

Thank you for a great week, Caterpillars

Week 1

This week we have been learning all about Supertato! We have talked about Veggies and what makes a healthy lunch box. We enjoyed writing letters to Supertato to help save us from Evil Pea.

We have had a busy week making masks, capes, Supertatoes and playdough Evil Peas!

We talked about healthy foods and did a fruit tasting activity. We loved trying lots of different fruits and after a vote, strawberries were our favourite!

Have a great weekend! See you next week.
