Summer 2

After reading "It starts with a seed" by Laura Knowles, the children wrote their own poems in an acrostic style. Here is a selection.

KS1 Sport's Day 2024

What a brilliant day! Thanks for your support. Everyone had a fab time! From the races to the space hoppers, to the skipping, to the 'Rob the nest game. Everyone gave 100%.

This term we had a representative from HSBC come to school to run a workshop for year 1. After answering lots of questions about money, the children were able to design their own coin.

Jolly Posties It starts with a seed

The Jolly Posties have learned this lovely poem by Laura Knowles off by heart. Enjoy the performance.

In Science we have been looking for signs of summer! Despite the less than summery temperatures, the children found lots of other signs and enjoyed handling and smelling the different plants around school.

This art project has taken us up to Walkley high street to look at the work of Nicole White. We have been exploring street art and in particular, the mural outside the cafe. The children have been learning to be able to explore tools and surfaces, to mix different colours, to observe and imitate an artist’s work, to show control of their paintbrushes, to design their paintings and to create a layered painting. They used Nicole Whites landscape to explore all of these skills.

This week in Science the children have been learning about different types of deciduous and evergreen trees. We took a trip into the forest where they identified different trees by looking closely at the leaves.
