Summer 2 Week 5

This week, we have been sharing the text Jolly Olly Octopus. We have been looking at the number 8 & increasing our knowledge of sea creatures. We learnt the name of an unusual mollusc that appears in the story.. a nautilus. We have been practising our cutting skills by making shape sea creatures & creating 8 wobbly arms for an octopus. We’ve also spent a lot of time playing in the water & creating our own rock pools or oceans with sea creatures. 

Summer 2 Week 4

This week we took part in the warm up at sports day, watched the races in the nursery garden, cheering on our friends and siblings. We then spent some time doing our own races, trying out some of the activities we observed during sports day, such as balancing a bean bag on a bat.

Summer 2 Week 3

This week, we welcomed parents to our first Stay & Play session in the new building. Thank you so much for attending, the children loved sharing their learning space with you. The class did a fabulous job, performing their Under the Sea themed song & continued with the activities (linked to our story Clumsy Crab) they started during the session.

Summer 2 Week 2

We have been sharing the stories, The Snail and the Whale and Commotion in the Ocean in Elmer class. We have made handprint crabs, created various sea creatures and found out some facts about whales. We spent some time investigating shells, talking about their size, shape and colour. After someone asked the question: Do any other creatures live in shells? We did a little bit of research on the internet to find out.

Summer 2 Week 1

Welcome back to the second half of the summer term. We are off on another Amazing Adventure based on the children’s interests. We will be exploring life under the sea, finding out about different sea creatures and sharing any experiences we might have had by the sea.
