Save Our Rainforests
Our next Literacy unit is going to be based on the Greenpeace advert 'There's a Rang-tan in My Bedroom' and the issues surrounding deforestation (the cutting down of trees in the rainforest) to plant oil palm trees to produce palm oil.

LO: To be able to publish and perform my recount
Today we are going to turn your fabulous writing into a video using a free app called Adobe Spark. This is what the Y3s used to make the video I shared with you earlier this week!
As a quick warm up activity, I would like you to play words within words. Watch the short video below to remind yourself how this game works. You can challenge yourself or play against someone else and see who can make the most words. Remember to write down the words you make so that you don't repeat the same word twice!
orangutan - red-haired apes that live in the tropical rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo in southeast Asia
deforestation - the clearing or cutting down of forests
palm oil - an oil made from the fruit which grows on palm trees
endangered - an endangered species is any type of plant or animal that is in danger of disappearing forever
sustainable - using resources carefully so that they can continue to be used and won't run out
You can upload your published videos by clicking HERE.
If you don't have any luck with making a video, I would still really love to hear you reading your fabulous writing!
You can send in a video or voice recording if you would like to. You could also use the drawing tutorial below to draw your own orangutan and could publish you recount tangled in the vines or present your work in another creative way. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
