Assessment

How we Assess History at Walkley

Where learning is evidenced in books, 'Remember To' statements will identify the key steps of learning in the lesson. Pupils will self-assess against these 'Remember To's and staff will mark the pupils work indicating their agreement with the pupil’s own self-assessment. 'Exit ticket' questions have been designed by the subject lead to give children the opportunity to prove that they have met the crucial learning outcomes. These will be used during the unit to assess what pupils know: what they have remembered and the concepts that they have understood and the skills that they know how to use.

History learning is captured through a combination of work in books and photographic or video evidence on the class website pages. Key Stage two pupils will predominantly capture their learning in individual work books.

Class teachers will use this information to inform teacher assessments for each pupil. Teachers will also use observations and contributions during group work and class activities to inform their teacher assessments.
