Walkley use a modern assessment model for F2 to Y6 that fits perfectly with the National Curriculum for the core subjects. It is a completely different concept from previous assessment because it altogether does away with the traditional rules about a child’s progress being based on them moving up a ladder – the old levels approach. Instead of linear hierarchical numbers that change across different year groups, we will be using a simple scale of 1 to 6:
PiTA assessment for pupils is dependent on their understanding of the national curriculum. Teachers formatively assess pupils using PiTA Trackers to indicate concepts of progress or difficulty. This informs planning for pupils to access and succeed with their curriculum learning.
