Summer 1
We have been producing our own videos to teach younger children how to carry out different calculation methods. We examined You Tube videos that already exist to teach mathematical methods and discussed what made them effective and how they could be improved. We then chose a Year 3 or Year 4 calculation method and planned a video to demonstrate this. We tried to ensure that we showed the concrete, pictorial and abstract for each method and took care to ensure we gave a clear explanation. We used I-Movie to edit and compile our videos.
We've had a fabulous day celebrating the Queens Jubilee! We dressed in red, white and blue or smart clothes. We had a tea party and then watched some performances.
Today, we had a trip to Wagamamas in celebration of the end of our SATs week. We made our own drinks using our own chosen ingredients including fruit, ginger and spinach. We also tried a number of different Japanese ingredients. Then we prepared our own rice or noodle bowls. We ate a feast of fabulous food and had a wonderful morning out of school.
Year 6 have been enjoying their special Year 6 Breakfast Club for two weeks in the run-up to the SATS. The food and the atmosphere have been PAN-tastic! Thank you to all the staff who have given their time and effort to help the Year 6's have a relaxed and enjoyable week.
