Summer 2

The Year 4’s had a great time completing a Design Technology Day. The children did a series of lessons which built up to them making a working ‘Steady hand game.’ The purpose of the game was to raise money at a Summer Fair event, it had to have a working switch and a working light or buzzer.

Children began by investigating a series of electrical appliances with switches, they then explored and made electrical circuits and switches.

Children then worked in small groups to decide on a theme for their game and then worked to produce the final game. Children worked brilliantly in their groups and produced a fantastic final piece.

Design Technology Day

Year 4 had a fantastic time undertaking geography fieldwork at Rivelin Park. They measured the velocity of the river at two different points along its course, by timing how long it took a dog biscuit to travel 5 metres. They also explored the physical and human features of the area and drew a map of the area.

After having studied Anglo-Saxon society and the arrival of the Vikings, the Chayas created model fortified settlements up in Forest School.
