Super Spellings week beginning 8th June
This week we are continuing to learn about the suffix '-ous' when there is no change to the root word. This week the activities include a crossword which will help you understand the meanings of the words. For this you may need a dictionary. If you have a dictionary at home you can use that or you could use this online dictionary. Try to spend 10 minutes a day using the activities to learn your spelling and then ask someone in your household to test you on Friday. Last term in our spellings we focused on adding prefixes to words. This term we are focusing on adding suffixes to words. Can you remember what this means? A suffix is a letter or group of letters added to the end of a root word that creates a new word with a different meaning. Click here for more information on this. This week we are looking at words that end with the sound 'er' spelt 'ar' and 'er'. read through the words on the spelling list. You can also use a dictionary to look up the meaning of any unknown words. If you have a dictionary at home you can use that or you could use this online dictionary. This week the acitivities include a word search, a handwriting sheet and a cloze activity. You don't need to print these out - you can look at them on a screen and use paper or a pad to complete the tasks. Hello Fantastic Foxes! This week's spellings are words that contain the prefix 'inter'. Have a look at the slides then have a go at some of the activities. There's a word search, a game and some handwriting practice. If you can, try to do 10 minutes practice each day then get someone in your household to test you on these spellings on Friday (just like Miss Kendall does in school).
