Hello Wonderful Walkley Year 6s! I hope you are all rested after the half term and ready to start another week of home learning. It’s Mrs Leverton here with your maths this week again and we are going to start another new unit focussing on algebra – I love it and I’m sure you all will as it’s clever stuff! Today starts quite basically but will build up gradually over the next couple of weeks.
Warm up
First have a go at the flashback 4 to get your brains warmed up. It’s all things that we’ve covered so far in Year 6. I wonder how much you remember? Remember, you can always play on TT Rockstars as well to rehearse your times tables.
L/O: To be able to find a simple rule
Firstly, watch my video explaining how we work out a simple rule to create a pattern of numbers and how we can use this with input and output machines.
Y6 algebra 1 step rule
Now have a go at the fluency questions – as always, choose level 1, 2 or 3 depending on your confidence. I have also included the remember tos for you.
We would love to see your work! Please share it on the google form. There is also a google quiz for you to show me your learning through a couple of questions and it gives you the chance to feed back to me on anything you need more support with.

Well done for today Year 6s! I know some of you found today's lesson harder as we have introduced the use of letters in calculations. However, I am so proud of you that you didn't give up and just worked through it! The more you practice, the easier it will become. By the end of next week I'm sure you will start to see it as entirely normal that letters are in calculations!
