This week for guided reading, I've tried to put together a text and task that reflects some of what is going on in the world at the moment. I have been so moved over the past couple of weeks to see people showing their overwhelming support for making the world a more equal and just place.
As a Walkley community, we are so lucky to have such an amazingly diverse mix of children and it is so important to all of us that every child is treated with respect and fairness. The fact that so many people around the world don't feel this fairness or respect is a reason for us to learn more and make changes.
Please watch the poem by the 7 year old, Nylah. I found it inspiring and incredibly positive to hear someone so young speak with so much confidence. It reminded me just how important children's voices are.
The text that I created came from the Newsround website. This is a great website for keeping up to date with news from around the world. I'm attaching a link to newsround with an article on how the premier league will be showing their support for the 'Black Lives Matter' movement at the beginning of the season.

Take a look at the website, there's lots of interesting stories from across the world!
