• The Day the Farm came to Walkley

  EYFS and Year 1 had a fantastic, animal packed day at Ian's Mobile Farm, as seen on the Yorkshire Vet, on the school field. The children were able to get up close to all the animals and even stroke a rabbit, guinea pig and a duck as the farmer held them and shared some animal facts. We met Meg the sheepdog who raced the children around the field, fetching the ball. We learnt about how to milk a cow and got to have a go at milking Daisy the fibreglass cow. The children took it in turns to brush and stoke the alpacas, sheep, ponies and goats. They were all amazing and had a brilliant day.

  

• Changes to staffing in Sun Kings class

  I write to inform you that Mrs Travis will be leaving Walkley Primary School at the end of the Spring Term (Thursday 28^th March). We thank Mrs Travis for all her hard work and contribution to Walkley over her time with the school. For the remainder of the school year Mrs Leverton will work in Sun Kings on Thursdays and Fridays alongside Mr Gamage who will continue to teach part time.

   

  From Monday 15^th April, staffing in Y5 Sun Kings will be:

  Monday: Mr Gamage

  Tuesday: Mr Gamage

  Wednesday: Mr Gamage

  Thursday: Mrs Leverton

  Friday: Mrs Leverton

• World Book Day Celebrations

  We enjoyed World Book Day on Thursday 7^th March. Children and staff dressed up as storybook characters or characters from a film. Thanks to everyone for getting into the fully involved in the fun day. Her was how the day unfolded:

  What with a change to the day we host our Golden assembly, it was wonderful to see so many parents in school to support our pupils and staff on such a special day - World Book Day!  Thanks for all your support helping children engage with the day and a collective love of reading. You are amazing!

• EYFS Parent Consultation Evening - 19th and 20th March

  Dear Parents and Carers,

  The online booking system for our EYFS Parent Consultation Meetings will open on Monday 11^th March at 9:00am. You will receive an Email informing you of the upcoming Spring Term EYFS Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 19^th March  (15:30 to 18:00) and Wednesday 20^th March (15:30 to 19:00)

  All appointments will be with your child’s class teacher in school, providing an opportunity to see your child’s classroom and work books in school.

   

  Separate appointments can be booked for the consultations where children live in two households.

  We are using the school website online booking platform to populate timetables for the consultations. At 9.00am on Monday, you will be sent an email, directly from the school website, with a link to access the appointment booking system. Click on the link within that email and choose your preferred time on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

   

  The booking system will close at 3.30pm on Monday 18^th March, parents who have not booked an appointment will be allocated a time on Wednesday 20^th March. We cannot guarantee that this will be convenient so please use the booking system to get your preferred time.

   

  If you have any issues please contact the school directly through enquiries@walkley.sheffield.sch.uk stating Parents’ Evening Query in the subject line and we will endeavour to support you through the process.

• Curriculum Newsletter available on class pages

  The teachers in each cohort have prepared a Curriculum Newsletter to share the learning intentions for Spring Term 2 with you. They will update you with a new Newsletter at the start of each half term.

   

  Newsletters can be found on your child’s Class Page on the School Website, in the Curriculum Newsletter page. The Curriculum Newsletters will remain on the website for your reference throughout the year.

   

  We hope they give you an insight into the learning taking place for your child, in different subjects. If you have any questions, do please get in touch.
