Walkley Primary School - Summer Fair 2026
Mon 18 May 2026Walkley Summer Fair 2026 – Saturday 27th June
It is that time of year again, when we start to look forward to the Summer Fair! This year, the fair will be on Saturday 27th June - 11am-2pm!
The Walkley Summer Fair is one of the highlights of the school year and Friends of Walkley are already busy planning and prepping for this year’s fair. Again, there will be lots of stalls and activities to get involved with during the day. For the past couple of fairs, we have had one or two stalls per year group, which has worked well. This year, we plan to do the same so look out for a message from someone in your year group.
For this and other community events to take place, Friends of Walkley need EVERYONE’S support. If any parent/carer would like to be involved in the organisation of community events and experiences for the children at Walkley, please email enquiries@walkley.sheffield.sch.uk for the attention of Mr Clements, who can connect you to someone from Friends of Walkley.
If you can offer any help; running or supporting a stall or setting up and clearing away at our Summer Fair, please let Mr Clements or a member of Friends of Walkley know.
We need the following to make the fair happen:
- Jars for the jar tombola. This is always a really popular stall and for it to be a success, we need about 400 jars. If each child fills one jar, we would have more than enough. Please fill jars with small toys/stickers/sweets etc with the lids on.
- Teddies that are in REALLY GOOD CONDITION for the ‘teddy tombola’ stall. Please bring any teddies that would like a new home to school.
- Any raffle prizes you would like to donate to school
- Cakes, biscuits or other baked goods for the refreshment stall on the day of the fair.
- Nearly new (IN GIFTABLE CONDITION PLEASE) books and toys for the book and bric-a-brac stall.
All the above can then be brought to school after May half term.
There will also be our traditional raffle, with some incredible prizes to be won. Tickets and more information will come home to you prior to the fair for you to sell to friends and family. If you have any raffle prizes you would like to donate to school or any connections to companies who may donate us a prize, again please contact Mr Clements.

Thu 14 May 2026Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6 pupils
We wanted to let you know how incredibly proud we are as a school of the endeavour and application of your children during their Standard Assessment Tests (SATS) this week and indeed over their time in school leading up to this point. The tests can be a stressful time for pupils, parents and staff and the anxiety that can arise in the build up of the tests can detract from the true purpose of the tests which has always been a measure used to judge the quality of education in a school.
As you will know, at Walkley our pupils work in the ‘Learning Zone’ where they display the best characteristics of learning and respect the rights of others to the same. Our Year 6s are undoubtedly respectful of their peers’ rights and dedicated in their own work. Never more so than this week.

Walkley Primary Welcomes Ed Miliband for Inspiring Visit
Fri 24 Apr 2026Yesterday, Walkley Primary School was delighted to welcome Ed Miliband for a special visit celebrating sustainability, student voice and climate action.
During his time in school, Mr Miliband toured the school and met with members of the Pupils' Executive School Council and our dedicated Eco Team. Pupils spoke passionately about their ambitions for the future, their commitment to protecting the planet, and their thoughts and feelings around climate anxiety. It was a hugely positive and rewarding conversation, with our children showing real leadership, insight and determination to make a difference.
The visit also highlighted the school’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, including the impact of our solar panels. Headteacher Mr Wallis joined Mr Miliband and Tom Hunt in discussing the already evident benefits the panels are having — reducing energy costs while also inspiring climate action and deepening environmental awareness across our school community.
The visit attracted wider attention too, with ITV interviewing Mr Miliband during the visit, with coverage featured on the evening news.
We were proud to share with our visitors how sustainability is woven into life at Walkley Primary — not only through practical action, but through the passion and commitment of our pupils. Their thoughtful contributions showed that young people have an important voice in shaping a greener future.
It was a memorable day for the whole school community and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the impact of collective action, student leadership and our shared commitment to a more sustainable future.

Curriculum Newsletters and Learning Menus for Summer Term 1 Available on the school website
Fri 17 Apr 2026Curriculum Newsletters and Learning Menus are available on the Class Pages under the Pupil Menu button.
The teachers in each cohort have prepared a Curriculum Newsletter to share the learning intentions for Summer Term 1 with you. They will update you with a new Newsletter at the start of each half term. Newsletters can be found on your child’s Class Page on the School Website, in the Curriculum Newsletter page. The Curriculum Newsletters will remain on the website for your reference throughout the year.
We hope they continue to give you an insight into the learning taking place for your child, in different subjects. If you have any questions, do please get in touch.
