Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Tuesday 3rd March, Walkley Primary School Eco Council worked with Scarlett and Rebecca from Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
The council spent their lunchtime taking action to help the local wildlife by making bird feeders and seed balls, which will be hung up around the school yard.
After, the Executive Council and Environmental Officer went on a nature assessment walk of our school grounds, where Scarlett & Rebecca made recommendations of easy ways the council can improve our outside spaces, for both biodiversity and nature connections and for use by children.
Keep an eye out for further updates from the School Council!
Super Work!!!

Dear Parents/carers
Following on from the Reading Cafes we have used during previous World Book Days, the English team in school have developed a Reading Buddy programme that supports community and connection as well as Reading. We would love to invite parents to drop-in on the Reading Buddy programme in the week of 9th February.
In the weekly Reading Buddy sessions, pupils are paired with children from a different age group and share their reading with their buddy for approximately 10 minutes each. The children have really enjoyed these sessions and look forward to seeing their Buddy and catching up with their progress.
In order to make this accessible for parents to drop-in, we will amend the programme so that all sessions are at the end of the day. Children will be in either their own class or their buddy’s class, and should you be able to join us, we will direct you to the right classroom on arrival. Pupils will be on hand to help with this. All buddy sessions will be from 2:40pm, but we ask that you arrive from 2:30pm to allow more time for moving around school.
This is the first time we have tried this style of drop-in and it would really help if we know the numbers we can expect for each class. This will help with the organisation of pupils. Please complete the attached form to support with this.

The timetable for the drop-ins is as follows:
Monday 9th February: Year 3 and Year 6
Tuesday 10th February: Year 1 and Year 4
Wednesday 11th February: Year 2 and Year 5
Hopefully we’ll see you soon to share the Reading Buddy Programme.
Kind regards
Mr Wallis
