  At Walkley we believe that your child’s love for reading and writing will unlock the gateway to their successful future. Therefore, we are committed to delivering the very best provision and opportunities for quality reading and writing.

   

   

  On Tuesday 26^th September at 5:00pm in the hall we will be hosting a RWI event for parents. (This is a repeat of the previous RWI event last September and November 2022). Here you will be able to view the materials used in the RWI programme and experience a speed sounds phonic session. You will see examples of the teaching and learning techniques used to deliver partner supported learning.

• Welcome back for the new school year

  Welcome back to school everyone for the new school year. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces this morning, you all did such a great job of getting to school for our new 8:45am drop off time. The children have been really settled in their new classes and having shared our first assembly this morning, it is fabulous to see and hear how ready you all are to be back in the Learning Zone and demonstrating wonderful Walkley citizenship behaviours. I'm very excited about what you can achieve this year and also to see how you will all develop putting into practice your acquisition of new knowledge, skills and personal development.

  We are very excited to be introducing School Gateway to Walkley Primary School – a parent engagement app that will allow you to pay for school meals, school trips and clubs at any time from anywhere.  We can also send messages to you for free via the app, which will save school money.

  School Gateway is live for our school from today.  Please search School Gateway in your App store and download it for free.

  The Year 6 Production of the Jungle Book was a roaring triumph!! Congratulations to all the pupils and staff for putting on such a wonderful show. Here are some pictures taken during the performance.

  

• Amazing Musical Performances

  Dear parents, throughout the year our pupils in Years 2, 3 and 4 have been learning an instrument. At the end of their sequence of learning they perform their developing skills and we have collated the videos of the performances which also includes the children receiving small group and individual lessons in Year4, 5 and 6.

   

  It is always so special to hear the children playing music in school and the pupils have made great progress throughout the year. Here are the videos of their performances:

• Golden Award Winners 14th July 2023

  Congratulations to the winners of our last awards of this school year. A massive thank you to our parents for your participation and attendance at these events over the last year. Having between 60 and 80 parents every week really makes the assemblies special for the children and promotes for the children the connectivity between home and school that is crucial to the Personal and academic development of our pupils.

• What an amazing Walkley Primary School Summer Fair

  Hello everyone,

   

  We just wanted to say a BIG BIG THANK YOU to all the pupils, parents and staff that helped at the summer fair. What an amazing team we are! 

   

  It was a fantastic day (even if it was a little windy!) and you managed to raise an incredible £3,391.74 (our most ever!!). Our Friends of Walkley group are amazing! Thank you to the teachers for getting sponged for ages. It definitely raised lots of money. You are heroes!
